Being parents is one of the happiest moments of your life especially when you see your children growing up healthily every single day. There is so much things a parent can give to a child, and one of the most important of all is a healthy and safe living environment at home.

Child-Friendly flooring doesn't have to be filled with princesses pinkish-floral prints for the girls or Spiderman, wolverine and other cartoon prints for the boys. All you need is a floor that is safe, durable and attractive enough to make your living space and surrounding comfortable, and enjoyable for the kids. Whether your children are young toddlers or adolescents, choose something that is family-friendly enough to withstand wear and tear in the long run.

Why Child Friendly Flooring?

Child friendly flooring will assure the safety and healthy aspects of your children thus reducing the amount of time you spend on worrying over the child's safety. Below are some of the reasons why.

Slip Beware! Be Safe.

Whether your child is a toddler learning and trying to walk unbalancedly on his or her own or a grown up kid who loves to "speed" around the house, minimizing the likelihood of slipping accidents is a must. You can opt for flooring with high slip resistant properties; usually those with natural or embossed wood surfaces have relatively better slip resistant properties. Good quality flooring products need to go along with good quality installation with experienced installers who would take care of the little details. This is because if workmanship is not good, safety may be compromised.

Oh No, Crayons!

Admit it. We all have been kids before. Somehow, innocently we may have created our crayon masterpieces or "craftworks" scratches on the flooring or the wall before our parents even saw it and 'invited' us to see "Mr Cane". As the saying goes,

"Children are always children."

However, this time today, with great advancement in technology, things are a little bit different now. You are able to choose good quality flooring products that are easy to clean and being highly scratch resistant, so that your children's 'masterpieces' can be minimized and wiped clean.

Be Healthy

Too much toxins on the flooring can cause allergy and it may be harmful to the human health especially on young children with lower immune system. You should look for products that are zero or low in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC); ask the vendor for the relevant test report in order to make sure that the flooring product has passed the SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) test. Moreover, also make sure that the flooring product has E1 or E0 grading for formaldehyde emission. Also make it a habit to clean your flooring and house regularly so that it will not accumulate dust or germs.

Long exposure to the feces of dust mites may lead to asthma especially on children's health. Carpets usually have the tendency to attract dust more so you may need to wash the carpet up more thoroughly than usual. Natural wood flooring on the other hand, does not accumulate dust mites and thus making your surrounding air quality clean and fresh.

Go Green @ Home!

Eco quality flooring products provides an educational approach for parents to teach young children especially on the importance of being Eco-responsible to the sustainable community. On the other hand, the flooring will last longer and parents can have a "peace of mind" on the long term safety and health aspects of eco flooring as a child friendly floor.
